Saturday is a great day to visit the Qualicum Market. Open year round from 8:30am-12pm, choose from a wide variety of goods produced by neighbouring farms and local artisans. Located off Memorial on Veteren’s way, this market offers fresh organic produce, all kinds of meats including fresh chicken, sausage, beef and pork and specialty baked products and preserves. Below is Donna Balzer, a resident of Qualicum Beach and an expert on all things gardening as well as a published author on the topic. If you’re looking for garden starters and advice, Donna is your gal!!
Once stocked up on the week’s necessities, pop them in the car and work off those tempting treats on one of two trails that are accessed at either end of the market. Heading south alongside the train tracks, there is a walking and bike path that will bring you all the way to Chartwell, a lovely residential community bordering Qualicum and French Creek. Heading along the train tracks to the north, you will find an entrance to a trail beside the Qualicum Beach Museum that will take you along Grandon Creek. No matter what direction you take, you’ll find these two paths a very enjoyable Saturday Stroll. I’ll feature more about the lovely town of Qualicum Beach in a future blog post, so stay tuned!
